energex® Enermix Dry Powder Mix is a specially formulated cementitious product enriched with polymers. Upon blending with water, an adhesive/embedding mixture is made which is ready for the energex® System.

UsesEnermix Dry is used to adhere insulation board to an approved substrate and to embed reinforcing mesh as part of the base coat of the energex® System. The mixture can also be used as a skim coat to produce a smooth level surface on masonry or concrete.
Surface PreparationApplication is to energex® recommended substrates.

Typically, these include exterior grade gypsum sheathing on either steel or wood studs, clean unpainted concrete, concrete block, brick and stucco. Masonry, concrete and brick substrates must be flat within 1/4" in any four foot radius. For other substrates, please contact the energex® representative. Surfaces must not be below 40 degree F or painted and must be clean, dry, structurally sound and free of efflorescence, grease, oil, form release agents and curing compounds.
Cautions and LimitationsClean potable water must be added to adjust workability. DO NOT OVERWATER!
MixingTo a 50 lb. bag of Enermix Dry Powder Mix, add 1-1/2 gallons of water. Mix in a 5 gallon can with Jiffy Mixer for about 3 minutes until homogenous. Re-temper by adding a small amount of water to achieve the desired workability.
Job ConditionsTemperature for application of Enermix Dry must be 40 ° F or higher and must remain so for a minimum of 24 hours.
StorageEnermix Dry must be stored at 40° F or above in tightly sealed containers out of direct sunlight.
Adhesive ApplicationUsing a stainless steel trowel, install a ribbon of Enermix Dry 2” (51mm) wide wide by 3/8” (10mm) thick around the entire perimeter of the Insulation Board. Place eight dabs of Enermix Dry 3/8” (10mm) thick by 4’ (102mm) in diameter approximately 8” (204mm) on center to the interior area.

Alternatively, a notch trowel may be used to install the ENERMIX DRY on the entire back of the Insulation Board. The 2” (51 mm) wide by 3/8” (10mm) thick ribbon must be installed around the entire perimeter of the board. (CAUTION - Do not install Enermix Dry on the substrate using the notch trowel). Immediately place the Insulation Board on the substrate and slide into position. Do not allow the Enermix Dry to form a skin before positioning the Insulation Board on the substrate.
Embedding ApplicationUse a stainless steel trowel to apply Enermix Dry to the surface of the Insulation Board to a uniform thickness as recommended for the type of reinforcing mesh being installed. Immediately, place the reinforcing mesh against the wet Enermix Dry. The surface of the Enermix Dry is smoothed with a trowel until the reinforcing mesh is fully embedded. The pattern of the mesh must not be visible.
Temporary ProtectionShall be provided at all times until the base coat, finish, and permanent flashings, sealants, etc. are completed to protect the wall from weather and other damage.
Drying TimeThe drying time of the Enermix Dry is dependent upon the air temperature and relative humidity. Under average drying conditions, (70° F, 55% RH), protect work from rain for at least 24 hours.

When used to bound insulation board to an approved substrate, a period of 24 hours must elapse to allow the Enermix Dry to form a positive bond. The insulation board should not be worked on while the Enermix Dry is curing.
Working TimeAfter mixing, the working time of Enermix Dry is approximately one hour depending an ambient conditions.
Bond Strength(ASTM D-897) - 60 psi (gypsum sheathing), 160 psi (concrete block).
Clean UpClean tools with water while Enermix Dry is still wet.
CoverageApproximately 110 square feet of surface area per 50 lb. per bag.

Enermix Plus is a 100% acrylic-based product which, when mixed with Portland cement, provides a high build, exceptionally easy to trowel adhesive/embedding coat.

UsesEnermix Plus is utilized where a high build (maximum 1/4”), crack, resistant, cementitious coating is required, for example, to skim rough masonry, to fill small voids in cementitious substrates and as the base coat for mechanically fastened systems.
Surface PreparationSurfaces shall be above 40° F, unpainted and must be clean, dry, structurally sound, and free of efflorescence, grease, oil, form release agents and curing compounds.
MixingThoroughly premix the Enermix Plus. Into a clean plastic container, pour 1/2 of the freshly mixed Enermix Plus, add 1 quart of clean potable water and 1/3 of a bag (approximately 30 Ibs.) of fresh, lump-free cement slowly and mix thoroughly. Additional water may be added to the Enermix Plus mixture to achieve a workable consistency. Up to 1/2 gallon of water per 1/2 pail of Enermix Plus may be added. DO NOT OVERWATER THE Enermix Plus MIXTURE AS THIS WILL DEGRADE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE PRODUCT. Allow the mixture to set for five (5) minutes. Re-mix and temper by adding a small amount of water to achieve the desired workability
Job ConditionsTemperature for application of Enermix Plus must be 40° F or higher and must remain for a minimum of 24 hours.
StorageEnermix Plus must be stored at 40° F or above in tightly sealed containers out of direct sunlight.
ApplicationWith a stainless steel trowel, apply the Enermix Plus to the recommended substrate at a thickness not to exceed 1/4”. Enermix Plus may also be applied using spray equipment.
Drying TimeThe drying time of Enermix Plus mixture is dependent upon the air temperature and relative humidity. Under average drying conditions (70° F, 55% R.H.), protect work from rain for at least 24 hours. Being a cementitious product, Enermix Plus mixture develops full strength in 28 days.
Working TimeAfter mixing, the working time of Enermix Plus mixture is 2 to 4 hours, depending on ambient conditions.
Water Vapor Transmission(ASTM E-96): 10 perms.
